WHAT IS CTTAM?
The Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba is the professional
association that Certifies and Regulates Engineering Technicians and Technologists in Manitoba.
CTTAM is an association of technically qualified individuals working in business and
industry who have completed a significant level of post secondary technical education complemented by related practical experience.
CTTAM is a growing organization, with over 3000 members throughout Manitoba and has been in existence since 1965.
It is administered by a Board of Directors. elected by the membership for a three-year term.
CTTAM is a member organization of the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists, which has its head office in Ottawa.
The Council promotes relations, activities, understanding and uniform standards of certification and grades across Canada.
At present, there are nine constituent member organizations with a membership exceeding 50,000 Technicians and Technologists.

WHAT DOES CTTAM DO?
For Member:
- Gives recognition throughout Canada for technical abilities and identifies the important
role of the Technician and Technologist in today's expanding technological society.
This is achieved by promoting the concept of Engineering and Applied Science Technology
and encouraging industry to clearly identify job areas that are best performed by Technicians and Technologists.
- Certified Technicians and Technologists have discovered that certification has become a
valuable qualification when applying for a new job, or for advancement with their present employer
- Encourages and assists the Technician and Technologist to increase their knowledge,
skill and proficiency in Engineering and Applied Science Technology through educational programs.
For Industry:
- Provides a yardstick for the measurement of a Technician's or Technologist's qualifications by assuring industry of standards, capabilities, interests, and training available from Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists in Canada.
- Helps to improve the qualifications of those already employed and certified, through educational programs.
- Provides a growing number of technically qualified people to support the engineering team concept.
For the Community:
- Provides Career and Guidance information in the Engineering and Applied Science Technology field.
- Provides a medium for the efficient utilization of technically trained people through the pursuit of higher and better education.
- Provides Accreditation Board for the accreditation of academic training programs.
- Provides scholarships for students attending technology programs at community colleges.
BECOMING A MEMBER
Upon completion of an application form, CTTAM committees will review your education and experience and your membership category
will be determined and recommended to the CTTAM Board of Directors for final approval
MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
Engineering/Applied Science Technician
Academic credits based on the National Reference Standards of the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists, or possession of an accredited certificate in engineering or applied science technician program.
Certified Technicians have the right to use the nationally recognized designation C.Tech.
Engineering/Applied Science Technologist
Academic credits based on the National Reference Standards of the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists,
or possession of an accredited diploma in engineering or applied science technologist program.
Certified Technologists have the right to use one of the nationally recognized designations C.E.T. or A.Sc.T.
Associate Member
Associate Membership is available to an applicant who qualifies academically but has yet to attain the
necessary experience, or does not meet minimum academic requirements but has acquired extensive relevant experience.
New graduates from accredited programs qualify for Graduate Technologist Membership.
Student Member
Student Membership is available for no fee to all students registered in a Technology program.
